Case Study

Designing a Modular Gasification System for Waste-to-Energy Conversion

The Problem

  • A cleantech firm needed to design a modular gasifier to convert industrial food and plastic waste into syngas and usable energy.
     

  • They lacked in-house process engineering capability to define the mass balance, heat recovery strategy, and oxygen/nitrogen utility requirements.
     

  • The system had to meet strict emission limits while remaining CAPEX-efficient for decentralized deployment.

Our Solutions

We designed the core process flow, mass and energy balances, and specified key equipment including the plasma torch, gas cleanup, and heat integration system. Our team also performed an initial economic screen and advised on how to modify feed prep to improve syngas yield while lowering operational costs. Result: Delivered a fully engineered process backbone for a modular 10 TPD gasifier system, enabling the client to pursue funding and pilot fabrication with confidence.
